Anxiety is unfortunately a condition that has only gotten worse in recent years. With the evolution of technology and its early and often exposure to our youth, feelings of anxiety have increased by 145% in girls and 161% in boys since 2010! Our kids are entering a distorted and confusing world, surrounded by comparison and negativity.
The truth is anxiety is caused by a multitude of factors. The three earliest triggers that can alter the nervous system and create an anxious brain are: (1.) Stress of mother during prenatal period, (2.) Birth interventions: C-section, Vacuum extraction, forceps..., (3.) Early childhood stressors and illnesses such as colic, constipation, chronic ear infections, eczema, sensory processing disorder, and delayed or missed milestones.
Symptoms of anxiety can manifest in various ways, including: Feeling nervous, restless, having a sense of impending danger or doom, increased heart rate and rapid breathing, sweating, trembling, or feeling weak, difficulty concentrating or sleeping, gastrointestinal problems and immune challenges, tension in the neck, shoulders, and frequent headaches.
Chiropractic aims to enhance balance and regulation of the nervous system. Through this lens, we can begin to tackle the physical manifestations of anxiety by relieving them of the stress and tension they carry every day.
